Mr. Long is a founding member of the firm and focuses his practice in the areas of business and corporate law, estate planning, probate, civil litigation, and appellate practice.

Mr. Long graduated from the Henry B. Tippie College of Business at The University of Iowa in 2005, where he received a B.B.A. in Economics with honors. He received his Juris Doctorate from The University of Iowa College of Law. While in school, Chad was an officer of the Alpha Kappa Psi fraternity, a legal Research Assistant to The University of Iowa’s Ombudsperson, and a Hawkinson Scholar of Finance. He also worked as a web designer and database administrator for The University of Iowa’s Office of the Registrar for more than five years.

Mr. Long was born and raised in Galesburg, Illinois, and returned to the area in 2008. He now lives in Knoxville, Illinois, with his wife and two children, where they are actively involved in the surrounding community in both social and charitable endeavors.

Mr. Long's business practice includes transactional matters as well as commercial litigation. He assists businesses and business owners with choice of business entity, preparation, review, and negotiation of business contracts, and compliance with a variety of corporate and business requirements. He represents businesses as plaintiff or defendant in a broad range of commercial disputes, from breach of contract to business torts.

Mr. Long's estate planning practice includes identifying the client's goals, analyzing the client's personal and financial situation, explaining options, and implementing a course of action by drafting documents, such as wills or trusts, and/or retitling assets. He can assist clients in planning to protect their minor children, preserving governmental benefits, accomplishing charitable goals, avoiding probate, and minimizing, deferring or eliminating death, gift and income taxes.

Mr. Long's probate practice encompasses administering decedent's estates of all sizes and types, handling will contests, representing parents or minors in guardianships, and representing fiduciaries, incapacitated adults, or concerned family members in guardianships.

Mr. Long is a certified guardian, currently serves as administrative hearing officer for Knox County Zoning, the City of Galesburg, and the City of Nauvoo, and has been named an Illinois Rising Star by Super Lawyers® for 2018-2022. In 2019, Mr. Long was appointed Public Administrator and Guardian for Knox and Warren Counties by Governor J.B. Pritzker.
